An Unrecognized Symptom of Bipolar Disorder: Rage: by Dominique Castro
Is bipolar disorder specifically associated with aggression? – The goal of the present study was to compare the prevalence of aggression in subjects with BP compared to subjects with other, non-BP psychopathology and healthy controls.
March 28, 2022 – New research has come out this week. They have been able to watch the actual weakening and deterioration happen in the neural circuitry effecting the areas of the brain causing Bipolar (see the historical article link below for background) in adolescence.
The significance of this new research is that if we are able to identify adolescence who are at high genetic risk for Bipolar Disorder (those who have a parent or sibling with the disorder), we can then perform dMRI scans to see if and in what stage of deterioration those neuronal connections are. Which means, earlier treatment and perhaps at some point, preventions. Exciting stuff.
